^G7Oh, there's going to be fireworks (fireworks!) On the Fourth of July (red, white, and blue!) ^C7Red, white, and blue fireworks Like diamonds in the sky. (^D7diamonds in the sky!) We're going to shoot the entire works on ^C7fireworks

^G7We declared our liberty 200 years ago Yeah! ^G7In 1776 (fireworks!) There were fireworks too (red, white, and ^C7blue!) The original colonists You know their tempers blew (They really ^D7blew!) Like Thomas Paine once wrote: It's o^C7nly common sense (only common sense) ^G7That if a government won't give you your basic rights ^C7You'd better get another government ^B7And though some people tried to ^Cfight it ^B7Well, a committee was formed to ^Cwrite it: ^A7Benjamin Franklin, Philip Livingston ^D7John Adams, Roger Sherman, Thomas Jefferson They got it done (Oh yes they did!) The Declaration, uh-^G7huh-huh The Declaration of Independence (oh yeah!) In seventeen hundred seventy six (right on!) ^C7The Continental Congress said that we were free (we're free!) ^D7Said we had the right ^C#7of l^C7ife and liberty . . . ^B7And t^D7he pursuit of happiness! ^G7Oh, when England heard the news (kerpow!) They blew their stack (they really blew their cool!) ^C7But the colonists lit the fuse There'd be no turning back (no turning back!) ^D7They'd had enough of injustice now But ^C7even if it really hurts, oh yeah ^G7If you don't give us our freedom now You're going ^C7to see some fireworks! ^B7And on the Fourth of July ^Cthey signed it ^B7And 56 names ^Cunderlined it And now ^A7to honor those first 13 states We turn the ^D7sky into a birthday cake They got it done (oh yes, they did!) The Declaration, ^G7uh-huh-huh The Declaration of Independence (oh yeah!) In seventeen hundred seventy six (^C7right on!) The Continental Congress said that ^G7we were free (we're free!) Said we had the ^D7right of life and ^G7liberty . . . ^B7And the pursuit ^D7of happiness! ^GWe ^G7hold these truths to be self-evident ^CThat all men are created equal And that they are ^Gendowed by their creator With certain i^D7nalienable rights ^CThat among these are life, liberty, ^Gand the pursuit of happiness And if ^Dthere's one thing that makes me ^Chappy Then you know that it's (oh) ^G7There's going to be fireworks!
