Blind Melon
Skinned (song 4 off "Soup")
Transcribed by Thomas Fieno
The rhythm is like:
V V V V
One and-uh, Two and-uh, Three and-uh, Four and-uh
The roots of the chords are played on the hard beats,
except for the Emin where the B note is played
instead of the low E
I play it like:
C
E-----------------|
B---------1---1---|
G---------0---0---|
D---------2---2---|
A---3-------------|
E-----------------|
One and-uh
down down-up
There is a chord towards the end I called C** which I
don't know the official name of but the fingerings are:
C** G Emin E7 Amin C
E N 3 N N N N
B 1 3 0 3 1 1
G 0 0 0 1 2 0
D 0 0 2 2 2 2
A 2 2 2 2 0 3
E N 3 N 0 N N
The C** is the chord that is commonly used for
transferrring a C chord to the Amin chord. So
play whatever you normally would for doing that.
Intro:
G G E7 E7
Verse 1:
GI'll make a shoe horn outta your shin,
GI'll make a lampshade of durable skin.
E7And oh, don't you know that I'm always feelin' able
E7When I'm sittin' home and I'm carvin' out your navel
GI'm just a' sittin' here carvin' out your navel
Chorus/Refrain 1:
CWhen will I Eminrealize that this Cskin I'm in
EminHey, it isn't mine
CAnd when will the Eminkill be too much
Cmeat for me to Eminhide... E7on
Verse 2:
GHey, I could really use a couple of hands
GTo complete one hell of a plant stand
E7Oh, don't you know that I'm caught here in the middle
E7Making rib cages into coffee tables
GI'm just makin' em into coffee tables
Chorus/Refrain 2:
CAnd when will I Eminrealize that this Cskin I'm in
EminHey, it isn't mine
CAnd when will the Emintrill be too much Cmeat for me to Eminfind E7anymore
Oh, because
Outro:
CYou know I can't hide
AminBut oh how hard I try
C C** G
But this is just the shape I'm in,
Oh yeah
CAnd though you know I can't hide
AminBut oh how hard I try
C C** G
But this is just the shape I'm in
This is one of my favorite Blind Melon songs.
