Life Being What It Is - Kaki King
Tabbed by: Liam Mackin

I couldn't find any good tabs or videos with the picking pattern for this song, so I worked out the first
pattern she plays by ear for anyone who is interested. Obviously it changes a lot throughout the song, but the
alternating bass notes and general rhythm here is pretty ubiquitous.
Also most of the chords in the latter part
of the song are just slight modifications of the four chords picked out here.
Tuning: AACGAE
e|----------------0--------------|----------------5--------------|
A|---------------0------0--------|----5----------5------5--------|
G|----0--------0------------0----|-------------5------------5----|
C|----0-------0-------0-------0--|----5-------5-------5-------5--|
A|0-------0-------0-------0------|5-------5-------5-------5------|
A|-------------------------------|-------------------------------|
e|----8-----------7--------------|----------------5--------------|
A|----------8-------7-------7----|---------------5------5--------|
G|--------------9-------7--------|----5--------5------------5----|
C|----9-------9-------7-------7--|----5-------5-------5-------5--|
A|8-------8-------7-------7------|5-------5-------5-------5------|
A|-------------------------------|-------------------------------|
When she plays the hammer-on in the beginning of the song it is during the open string chord above and she
hammers on the first and second string on the third fret then pulls off.
And when she sings, "I stared straight into the sun, something to concentrate on" she plays:
e|-------------------------------|-------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------|----------------------0--------|
G|12------7-------9-------5------|4-------2-------0---------0----| twice
C|12------7-------9-------5------|4-------2-------0---0-------0--|
A|-------------------------------|------------------------0------|
A|12------7-------8-------5------|3-------1-------0--------------|
then plays this harmonic pattern
e|--------+7---------------------|
A|-------+7----------------------|
G|----+7-----+5------------------|
C|---+7--------------------------|
A|+7-----------------------------|
A|-------------------------------|
The bridge is made up of a few different chords, so I'll list them but again the picking is similar so you can
work it out yourself.

*Note: This is just a rough tab to get you started. I figure that this is a hard enough song to play that
most people who might use this tab can listen to the song and feel out the rest and/or get creative and make
it their own. But if anyone really wants more tabbed out or more detail on a specific part of the song let me
know and I will see if I can get that done for you.
