Well my da^Aughter came to see me she was sellin' tickets for the high school dance, I could w^Bin a brand new album by some Stray Cats if I'd only buy a chance, Well I bo^Aught the tickets and the chance to win a brand new rock 'n' roll LP, And when Fr^Diday came I walked into the pl^Eace my dress was well below my kn^Aees. ^F

Now Mr. Ha^Bbrper took my ticket and he smiled at me as sober as a judge, Shirley Th^Ebompson she was there with him she shook my hand and then gave me a hug, You know they're ma^Bbrried now and my they look so happy and contented side by side, And to ^Ebmy surprise Bobby Taylor ne^Fver took his eyes off of his w^Bbife.

Mr. B^Bbaker stirred the punch it was lemonade with nothin' on the side, His s^Ebecretary smiled at me and said she was so happy as his bride, W^Bbidow Jones is dead she and a young kid missed a curve on Lover's Lane, Mr. Ke^Eblly's gone he drank until they sa^Fid it took his liver and his b^Bbrain.

Now the m^Bbusic started up and it was louder than a thunderstorm in May, Well I st^Ebood there and I laughed to see the way the kids all get their kicks today, Then I s^Bbaw a man who gave a cigarette to some small kid too young to smoke, He was a f^Ebull-grown man and he was set up i^Fn the parking lot a sellin' d^Bbope.

Well I wa^Bblked around the place and saw the drummer sniffin' powder up his nose, Then I wa^Eblked out through the parking lot and saw these kids were takin' off their clothes, They were dr^Bbinkin' beer and poppin' pills and actin' like they all was havin' fun, I g^Ebot so mad I thought at first I'd ^Fgo back to the house and get a g^Bbun.

^F# But I ^Bwent back to my home and took my Bible out and said a little prayer, Now tom^Eorrow I can tell 'em that God loves 'em and I'll tell 'em that I care, I th^Bink back fifteen years ago when I was wild and wore a mini skirt, Ain't no w^Eay I can explain the things I d^F#id and all the people that I h^Burt.

Well the m^Busic keeps on ringin' in my ears and I can hear the drummers beat, I can s^Eee the way things are and I can see the things the kids are thinkin' neat, Well tom^Borrow afternoon the PTA'll meet and I got things to say, To a br^Eand new generation of the Ha^F#rper Valley PT^BA.
